Dozens of kids spent Sunday with Stratford police, learning athletic and leadership skills.

The Stratford Police Activities League is a program with up to 85 high school students, and police officers held an NFL-style training camp for them.

Events included a 40-yard dash and a bench press drill.

“There are these programs out there, but a lot of these programs that do this and offer this to kids, they cost money and they're expensive,” says Lt. Curtis Keller.

Police also spoke to the attendees about how to handle traffic stops, among some ways the officers say they are trying to instill trust and understanding at an early age.
