Community members in Westport, as well as surrounding areas, are rallying around a man who wants to turn his life around after he rushed to help a person hurt in a car crash.

People are crediting Aaron Tucker, 32, with helping to save the man's life.

According to witnesses, the man's car hit a tree and flipped on Post Road east in Westport. Witnesses say he was trapped inside as the car went up in flames.

That's when two men, along with Tucker, came to the rescue.

According to WestportNow.com, Tucker was headed on a Norwalk-bound bus from his halfway house in Bridgeport when he saw the crash. Tucker used his shirt as a tourniquet on the victim's injured head.

Westport community activist Kami Evans says dozens of people have reached out to her after hearing what Tucker did.

"All of my FB pages have been blowing up with how can I help, what can I do," says Evans. “She says as she organizes drop off locations for clothing and anything Tucker may need, it makes her happy knowing the community has such huge hearts.”

Police say the victim is expected to be OK.
