Tenants, many of them seniors, at an apartment complex in Norwalk say a broken elevator is causing a serious disruption, forcing them to stay at home.

Some of the seniors at the apartment building on West Avenue are disabled, so they say an elevator is a necessity.

With no repair in three weeks, they are now questioning whether something's actually going to be done about it.

The son of an 82-year-old woman who doesn't want to be identified says his mother sometimes stays in her apartment for a week straight since she doesn't want to climb them.

He says his mom wears a pacemaker and worries her health is now being affected.

The sign on the elevator says it was supposed to be fixed by July 27.

News 12 Connecticut reached out to the Norwalk Housing Authority, which owns and manages the building. It says the reason it hasn't been repaired yet is there was a delay in getting the necessary parts.

It says it’s delivering written notices to all of the tenants today to let them know the situation. Officials hope to get the parts mid-week and hopefully the elevator will be repaired by Friday.
