A popular jobs program in Bridgeport that President Donald Trump wants to eliminate is fighting to stay alive with the help of local politicians.
The MaturityWorks program at The Burroughs Community Center gives older adults computer and resume training, and then places them in office jobs.
Many members of the program say they simply got laid off or had an illness.
"It could happen to anybody, absolutely," says CEO Joe Carbone. "The economy is changing very quickly."
President Donald Trump wants to completely eliminate the program, but Sen. Richard Blumenthal is fighting to keep it going.
"There's nothing 'red' or 'blue' about public service or helping seniors give back to the community," he says.
Blumenthal says 22 other senators are also pushing to save MaturityWorks.
