A Bridgeport man coming home from work Wednesday night rounded a corner to see his neighbor's house on fire and helped save her life, police say.
First, he ran into his own house and told his wife, who called 911. Then he ran to his neighbor's to wake her up, police say.
It happened around midnight on the Fairview Avenue Extension.
"I was really scared for her," says Janeth Edwards, the man's wife.
Police say the woman made it out safely. She is staying with relatives.
"We're all pretty good neighbors," says Christopher Brown, who also lives in the area. "We have a pretty good system around here. We all try to look after each other."
