Local police officers prepare for gun attacks
Local law enforcement officials say they are actively training and preparing for situations similar to Sunday night's attack in Las Vegas.
Assistant Chief Jim Matheny says police have plans in place for various scenarios that could potentially happen at an event like Alive at Five, an outdoor music event held every summer.
Matheny says special operations personnel are assigned at any large scale event in Stamford, plus undercover officers stationed in the crowd.
"Being way ahead of the game on this kind of thing, whenever there is a large event in terms of the number of people in a particular location, that's something we have a plan for," Matheny says. "We will never not have the high ground in Stamford."
The assistant chief says all plans are made in conjunction with event organizers.
