A picture of a gun that was posted to Snapchat with the message "get ready for some fun" has led to an investigation at Wilton High School.
Principal Dr. Robert O'Donnell sent out a message to the high school community Thursday afternoon, saying a student reported seeing the post on Snapchat.
According to O'Donnell, the post was quickly removed and officials determined the gun was a stock photo from Google Images. He says administrators talked with police and decided to continue with school rather than disrupt students, but that they were keeping a close eye on the situation.
The identity of the poster is not yet known, but police are working with school officials and Snapchat to figure out who made it.
O'Donnell says there is no reason to believe students face a credible threat, but they take any information about potential threats seriously. He adds that the school is a safe place and that focused efforts will keep it safe moving forward.
