Stamford police found a body Friday after emergency crews responded to reports of a man struggling in the Long Island Sound just off Harbor Drive.
They say they received several emergency calls about the man around 11:20 a.m.
Crews searched for about an hour before pulling 34-year-old Rasheed Hines from the water. He was taken to Stamford Hospital and pronounced dead. It was not immediately known why Hines was in the water.
Stamford police received assistance from the city's fire department, as well as Greenwich Harbor units. Fire officials say they had to use sonar to find the victim.
Police say Hines lived in Stamford but was not originally from the area.
