A Bridgeport man went from riding his bike to waking up in a hospital last week, and he says he doesn't know what happened in between.
"All I know is I left work to go pick up my daughter from school," says Jeffrey Cecilio, 41. "Then I woke up in the hospital."
It happened Friday afternoon along Ferry Boulevard in Stratford.
At some point, he suffered three broken ribs, a broken collar bone and a broken shoulder. The family says he may have been hit by a car and left on the side of the road, but police say witnesses told them the bicycle malfunctioned and sent Cecilio flying.
"The witnesses state it appears the chain fell of the bike," says Capt. Frank Eannotti, of the Stratford Police Department. "And he flipped over the handlebars."
Friends don't agree with that explanation.
"I just don't think that his wounds, and all his injuries, are caused by just a fall," says Ana Delgado, a family friend.
An ambulance took Cecilio to Bridgeport Hospital, according to his girlfriend Emelisa Forty, but the ambulance company won't release any more information about the incident.
Family members also say they believe Cecilio was found far away from his bike.
