New Canaan group takes a stand for pledge of allegiance at deli

As the controversy surrounding athletes kneeling during the National Anthem continues, a group of New Canaan residents has their own take on the issue.
A group consisting of war veterans and local workers from the town have come together at Tony's Deli each morning over the past month to stand during the pledge of allegiance.
"With all the things that are going on, on national TV, we felt somebody should stand up and respect the flag," says Peter Vandall.
The movement first began in the NFL last year when former quarterback Colin Kaepernick took a knee to protest social injustice.
The movement spread this season, with large sections of several teams kneeling before or during the anthem, while others locked arms or raised fists.
NFL officials will reportedly meet next week to discuss possible changes to its national anthem policy.
