A free immigration clinic was held with volunteer attorneys Friday morning in Stamford to offer information about citizenship and deportation to immigrants in the community.
Building One Community, a nonprofit organization that seeks to support immigrants, organized the event as an outlet for those who may need information but aren’t sure where to go.
News 12 Connecticut is told that some of the items discussed at the clinic included the process of applying for citizenship and creating an emergency plan in the case of extreme situations.
“Most people who live in Fairfield County know someone who is undocumented,” says Catalina Horak, the executive director of Building One Community. “So knowing that you have credible sources of information, that nobody is making you pay for that and that things are not being exaggerated but being told in a credible way is of great importance right now.”
Horak says the organization plans to hold similar events in the futures.
