Crews returned to Cranford Monday after the morning rush to complete repairs to a large water main break.
New Jersey American Water said the 16-inch line broke early Sunday morning at the intersection of North and Elizabeth avenues.
While the water main itself has been repaired, crews returned around 9 a.m. Monday to repave the roadway.
"This is a very major intersection for traffic; east-west through Union County. (It’s) so important that we get this up and running as soon as possible," Cranford Mayor Thomas Hannen said.
During the water main repairs, water was shut off to about 150 customers, but service has since been restored.
So far, no boil water advisories have been issued for those in the affected area.
