Police officers shopped with Milford children at the Milford Target store Tuesday as part of their Shop with a Cop event.
Police say it's important to think about families who may not have the resources to go shopping on their own during the holidays.
The event comes from a partnership between Connecticut law enforcement and the REACH Foundation. Officers came from Stamford, Milford, Monroe, Bridgeport and the state police.
It began with some bowling and picture time with Santa. Then each child received $100 to spend alongside a police officer or state trooper.
"I do believe that a child that needs a little bit of family," says Roman Gray, a state trooper. "I think it's very important for them to feel importance. And have fun and go shopping for someone."
The event ends with goodie bags and another photo opportunity with the kids, Santa and the cops.
