A group of Nassau police officers treated needy children to $250 shopping sprees at the Westbury Target store Wednesday to help their families for the holidays.
"Oh it is wonderful to see the kids light up," said Officer Daniel Johannessen. "Spending money and buying shoes and hats and toys for their brothers and sisters, it is just a great experience."
Forty children participated courtesy of the Nassau County Police Department and Target. The officers dressed up as superheroes and escorted the children through the store.
"It feels amazing, because I never spent this much," said Victor Guevara.
