Officials with the Connecticut Department of Labor say there may be delays in processing new unemployment claims.

Officials expect there are going to be 300-percent more claims than usual filed between the last week of December and the third week of January.

Due to this, it may take an additional five to 10 days before they can process a benefit by direct deposit or debit card.
