Stamford police warn homeowners of Eversource utility scams

Posted: Updated:
STAMFORD -

The Stamford Police Department is warning homeowners to be wary of a recent spate of utility scams involving Eversource.

The department issued an alert Wednesday regarding a fraudster posing as an Eversource employee.

According to police, anyone who receives a call from 1-800-387-1880 from a person claiming to be from Eversource is a scam.

Police say another way to identify the scam is to watch out for calls that appear to be coming from many other numbers.
