Police: Man had 10-inch knife in car in New Canaan

NEW YORK -

A man from New York has been arrested in New Canaan for having a 10-inch knife in his car.

According to police, Jeffrey Mackey, of White Plains, was initially pulled over for speeding, but when officers approached the vehicle, one noticed the knife on the floor of the car.

Police say the blade was 10 inches long, and any blade longer than four inches is considered a weapon.

Mackey was charged with illegal possession of a weapon inside a motor vehicle.

He was released on a $5,000 bond and is due back in court next month.
