Police: Man broke into Torrington home with illegal gun

TORRINGTON -

Police in Torrington have charged a man with having an illegal gun.

According to police, they arrested Samuel Gates, 33, after receiving a call from someone saying Gates had broken into a home Saturday morning on Whiting Avenue.

Police say Gates was apparently looking for a man who lived there, but he wasn’t home at the time.

Police say Gates fought back as officers tried taking him into custody, but he was eventually taken into custody.
