Walk Up movement builds on momentum from National Walkout Day

Students nationwide are being encouraged to continue the momentum of National Walkout Day with the Walk Up movement.
People across the country are using the momentum from the school walkouts to propel them moving forward. The next call to action, which has gone viral, encourages students to “walk up” to someone who’s been bullied or sits alone at lunch and start a conversation.
The Fairfield Police Department is joining the Walk Up movement by encouraging everyone, not just students, to communicate. Fairfield police say a lot of disputes they respond to, including outside schools, can easily be worked out by having a conversation.
"I think it's good, I think it puts people's opinions out there," says Lt. Robert Kalamaras says. "We realize that everyone has a difference of opinion. Our opinion is that everyone should try to get along."
