Gov. Dannel Malloy has just four days to propose a new nominee for chief justice after his pick for Supreme Court Justice was voted down.

The governor had originally proposed Justice Andrew McDonald.

Malloy said he did not have a second pick for the position, but said he will be giving a new nominee some thought.

Other state lawmakers, still rallying for McDonald, are now asking for the confirmation vote to be reconsidered.

"The action that we are requesting is that at least one of the 19 members that voted against that nomination yesterday, reconsider and support a motion to reconsider that action," says  State Sen. Martin M. Looney (D-Norwalk).

Republicans have rejected the idea of a revote.

They say they disagree with McDonald's rulings, calling him an activist judge.
