Sen. Chris Murphy spoke in Stratford with counselors and caregivers on the front lines of opioid addiction.
He says he hopes the anti-opioid funding in the new federal budget is a step in the right direction.
"I'm really glad that we're finally taking this serious at the federal level, we now have to make sure this goes to the right places,” Murphy says. “That's what I was here today to talk about, making sure that new federal money ends up here in Connecticut in a way that makes a difference.”
The spending bill passed by Congress last week adds $3.3 billion to programs fighting opioid addiction and overdoses.
