News 12's “Making Cents with Kristie” participated in a financial education expo in Brooklyn Thursday.
The event was hosted by the Brooklyn Borough President's Office. Representatives said that they aimed to educate people on investing and preparing for their future.
Attendees had the chance to ask financial questions to News 12's Jamila Souffrant and Kristie Reeter. They advised people to track their expenses and look at their monthly credit card statements.
Alyssa Rojas, a student, said that she is concerned about student loans after hearing about people in their 50s who are still paying them off.
"I don't want that to be me, so this is actually very beneficial for us," she said.
Officials said that residents can still find free financial resources by calling 311.
