The president of the Connecticut State Colleges and University System says he is not resigning after a plan to consolidate the state's 12 community colleges was rejected.
Mark Ojakian says that he’s not stepping down and rather that he plans to keep trying to find a way to make the merger work.
Some school leaders are calling for his resignation and a complete stop to the merger.
The faculty also wants the Board of Regents to oppose tuition hikes and any campus closures, two things Ojakian has warned may have to happen without a merger.
