Plans to bring a Chick-fil-A fast-food restaurant to Stamford are being met with opposition from some community members.
If approved, the new location would replace the vacant Bank of America at 66 High Ridge Road. It's located on a busy span near a CVS pharmacy and Lord and Taylor, across the street from Coalhouse Pizza.
Traffic concerns were raised at a zoning board meeting Monday night. Some said traffic is already plentiful waiting to get onto High Ridge Road, and that a Chick-fil-A there would make it worse.
There is a Dunkin' Donuts drive-thru on Long Ridge Road, less than a half-mile away, but other drive-thru restaurants along High Ridge are farther up the road. Some say if the city wants a fast-food restaurant there, then Chick-fil-A is the right choice.
Another public hearing on the restaurant will be held early next month.
Chick-fil-A currently has eight locations in Connecticut.
