A Fairfield woman spotted a bobcat in her backyard last week, causing alarm among parents and pet owners.
Alex Paciotti snapped a photo of the animal on her Eleven O'Clock Road property. She says none of her kids or dogs were outside when it happened.
Paciotti's next-door neighbor, Chip Campbell, says after hearing about the sighting, he is concerned about his dog Hamlet. The neighbor on the other side of Campbell showed News 12 video of what she thinks was a bobcat in her yard recently.
Paciotti says she heard that bobcats are most active early in the morning and after dusk and are just coming out of their birthing season.
Police say bobcat attacks on humans are very rare and that there have been no reported attacks on pets in the area.
Still, police say anyone who comes into contact with a bobcat should back away slowly and call Fairfield Animal Control at 203-254-4857.
