Kids in Stamford learned about Italian culture Wednesday with an in-school cooking lesson from professional chefs.
Maurizio Ricci, owner of Osteria Romana and Romancci's Restaurants, along with one his executive chef, visited second-grade students at Strawberry Hill School.
The duo helped students make their own homemade pasta.
"I think all of learners learn better when its hands on when we're seeing things when we're doing things," says teacher Frank Rodriguez. "One of our units of inquiry is how we express ourselves. I think cooking is an expression of, it’s an art in itself so I think it’s also nice to see that angle."
Rodriguez says the lesson teaches students about the language in a fun and interactive way.
He says all of the students were able to take their pasta home to eat with their families.
