Hundreds attend annual Knights of Columbus Memorial Day Mass

BRIDGEPORT -

Hundreds turned out in Bridgeport for the annual Knights of Columbus Memorial Day Mass on Sunday.

People gathered at St. Andrew’s Church to pay their respects for those who have served.

American flags lined the grass outside of the church.

The family of Manuel Torres,  a combat veteran who served in Korea and died on Friday at the age of 91, were at the church for the Mass.

Torres’ son, Vietnam vet Daniel Torres, of Bridgeport, said his dad may have been a Korean war hero, but the federal government will still not pay for his burial.

"And I need the help and the funds for the funeral cost. The cemetery's just fine with that, but the funeral cost -- that's where I need the help," he says.

The Torres family says donations to the funeral fund can be made at Luz de Paz Funeral Home in Bridgeport.

Donations to the funeral fund for Manuel Torres Feliciano can be made at:
Luz de Paz Funeral Home
426 East Washington Ave
Bridgeport, CT, 06608

Or call Torres family at (646) 474-9474
