Lindenhurst business reports phone scam involving PSEG

LINDENHURST -

A Lindenhurst business received a call from a scammer claiming to work for PSEG Long Island.

Susan from Ability Transmissions on Montauk Highway answered the phone at work.

She says the caller knew the name of the company and asked for confidential account information.

The caller eventually hung up, called PSEG and they confirmed it was a scam.

“He actually asked me what account did I pay from? I said, who are you, I’m not giving you my account information.” She said the caller responded, “Well, we are going to come down and shut off your electric.”

PSEG Long Island tells News 12 customers should NEVER arrange a payment or share bank account information over the phone.
