NEW FAIRFIELD -

A boating accident on Candlewood Lake left a woman in critical condition and a man facing charges Tuesday, officials say.

It was not immediately clear what caused the accident, but it involved a pontoon boat. The man allegedly fled the scene of the accident in his boat.

Authorities identified him as Gary Morrone, of Oakville. He faces charges including failing to help the victim of a collision and failure to notify police.

Another boat reached the woman in the water near Bogus Hill Road and pulled her out.

She was taken to Danbury Hospital in critical condition.
