Bridgeport Hospital is mourning the death of a nurse who lost her battle with cancer.

News 12 met Karen Marlin, a single mother of three who lived in Trumbull and worked at the hospital for decades, last December following her pancreatic cancer diagnosis.

Marlin's love of life and hopeful attitude brought people together for parties, a benefit and a meal train that will continue to help her kids cope without their mother.

Marlin's funeral is planned for Saturday at St. Theresa Church in Trumbull.

A fund has been created to help Marlin's three children, the youngest of whom turns 16 years old this week.
