Volunteers at the Wilton Congregational Church packed lunches for kids in need every morning this week.
Organizers say they're supporting the Bridgeport Rescue Mission's Summer School Lunch Program in Norwalk.
The church helps out with the lunches every year as one of their Mission and Service projects.
"These children, during the regular school year, get lunches paid for by the state of Connecticut. But during the summer, the state will not pay for the lunches," says Giff Broderick, of the Wilton Congregational Church. "So the Bridgeport Rescue Mission asks for organizations like us to go ahead and make the sandwiches for them."
Organizers say six schools in Norwalk benefit from the lunch program.
