An estimated 47 million Americans will be traveling for the Fourth of July holiday next week, AAA reports.

In New England, 86 percent of people are expected to travel by car.

Despite the holiday falling in the middle of the week, and gas prices about 65 cents higher than they were at this time last year, AAA says it expects a record numbers of drivers to hit the road throughout New England this Fourth of July.

AAA says with the bulk of those travelers hitting the road starting next Tuesday, the morning commute is expected to double or triple next week.
