It has been a busy summer for three lifeguards in Litchfield County who are responsible for saving four lives.
The young Lynn Deming Park employees have many seasons go by without having to make a single rescue, so four in a month is remarkable.
One of the rescues came on the Fourth of July, another was before last weekend and the most recent rescue was made Monday morning.
All of the near-drowning victims were under the age of 12.
The whole crew, all of whom are under the age of 23, is feeling proud.
"When I was walking out onto the shore with this kid, I went right up to his mother," says lifeguard Ryan Logan. "She was really emotional that her child was in danger, but she was also very happy that he is OK now."
The lifeguards say the unusual amount of rescues underscores the need for kids to take swimming lessons, which the town of New Milford offers.
