The Temple Sholom in Greenwich held one of its six yearly blood drives Monday.

The event comes just as the Red Cross reports an emergency need for blood, due to the July 4 holiday.
“It's wonderful to have people come in to the Temple of Sholom building and for us to open our doors to people of the area and help the Red Cross save lives," said Eileen Robin, from the Temple Sholom.
Officials said many of the regular donors change their routines due to vacations and seasonal activities, leaving the organization to distribute blood at a faster rate than it’s collecting it.
