A 4-year-old boy is dead and his 2-year-old brother remains hospitalized after police say they were involved in a hot car incident Thursday in West Haven.
Police say the father of Dusan Jenkins, 4, and Davion, 2, called 911 around 3 p.m. Officers arrived at an apartment complex on Treat Street to find the boys suffering from some type of medical issue.
Both boys were taken to a hospital, where the 4-year-old later died. Officials say the 2-year-old is now stable.
No charges have been filed against the boys' father, who police say is cooperating.
"The father's direct involvement is unknown at this time," says Sgt. Charles Young.
Police are looking over surveillance footage as part of their investigation. They are reminding parents about the dangers of hot, unattended cars.
"You can never leave a kid alone if you're going to leave your car," Young says. "You're going to take your children with you. Period."
