Officials say a firefighter was injured and nine people were displaced after a fire ripped through a home in Bridgeport.
They say the fire happened on Wilmot Avenue around 5 p.m. Monday
One of the residents was forced to jump out of a second-floor window to escape the flames, according to fire crews.
One resident says he was lying down in his apartment and did not know of the flames until a neighbor knocked on his door.
One firefighter was taken to the hospital with heat exhaustion.
"We called for a second alarm immediately, we rotated the companies through because of the heat and the stress on the firefighters," says Bridgeport Fire Department Assistant Chief Michael Caldaroni.
The families returned to their home Tuesday, seeing what they could salvage from the severely damaged homes.
Officials are investigating the cause of the fire.
