State Sen. Carlo Leone, along with others, held a discussion Friday regarding the rising cost of prescription drugs and how to combat the problem.
The meeting was held at the Stamford Senior Center.
According to officials, spending on prescription drugs rises at a rate faster than any other health care cost. They say a growing numbers of Americans can't afford their medications forcing too many to skip them altogether.
"Medications and prescriptions are always spiking, so were trying to find ways to keep it affordable," Sen. Leone says. "We've passed a meaningful legislation."
They say when demand is high for a product, companies often raise prices.
Lawmakers say they are trying to take control of this problem.
