Bridgeport homeowners, lawmakers rally to fight illegal foreclosures

BRIDGEPORT -

There’s a call to action in Bridgeport as local homeowners speak out against illegal foreclosures.

A group of residents who say they were wrongly forced out of their homes held a rally Sunday, winning support from state and federal lawmakers.

The homeowners say they're fighting for tougher laws to combat illegal foreclosures, and they hope to build awareness about the negative effects such legal actions have on families.

Local officials are echoing their fight.  Sen. Richard Blumenthal said he's helped extend federal protections for veterans facing foreclosure, and the same could be done for homeowners who have not served in the military.
