Street renamed in honor of soldier who died in Iraq

A Brooklyn street was renamed Friday to honor a soldier who was killed while serving in Iraq.
The corner of Woodbine Street and Irvine Avenue was renamed "Specialist Rasheed Sahib Way." The new street sign is just feet from the home where Sahib grew up and where his family still lives.
Fizoon Ashraf says it's been more than 15 years since his son was killed in the Iraq war, but the pain is still raw.
Sahib was born in Guyana and immigrated with his family to Brooklyn in 1988. He was killed in an accidental weapons discharge when he was just 22 years old.
His family and friends say he was a self-less go-getter who had big dreams.
Bureaucratic issues kept the street sign from being installed earlier, but Sahib's family says the honor comes better late than never to pay tribute to the soldier who paid the ultimate sacrifice.
