An overnight drive-by shooting outside a deli on the corner of Stratford and Union avenues in Bridgeport left a man dead and a woman injured.
It happened around 12:30 a.m. Monday. Police say 25 year-old Len Allen Smith, who was sitting in the front seat of the red parked car, was killed. The other victim was sitting in the back seat but survived.
Police tell News 12 that witnesses reported seeing a white Jeep Cherokee pull up next to the red car just before shots were fired. Detectives say three hours later, a Jeep matching the description witnesses gave was found abandoned at Indian Well State Park in Shelton.
Shelton police say the Jeep may have been set on fire. Detectives say the burned Jeep was taken to a garage and will be processed for evidence.
Smith's family says he had no known enemies and that he worked at a local supermarket.
The surviving victim is 33-year-old Georgia Comacho, Smith's girlfriend. She was taken to Bridgeport Hospital, where she underwent surgery and is listed in critical condition.
Police ask anyone with information on the shooting to give them a call.
