Severe flash flooding Tuesday night in Port Jefferson left parts of the village under water.
This morning, residents are cleaning up after cars, businesses and even the fire department flooded from the rain that drenched the area.
In video obtained by News 12, water is seen up to the doors of cars in Port Jefferson last night.
Dozens of people were also trapped and had to be rescued from the rising waters at businesses and from Theatre Three on Main Street.
Since the Port Jefferson firehouse was flooded, other departments had to help out.
Port Jefferson officials quickly tried to warn people to stay away from the unexpected flood.
The flooding was so bad the sidewalks and curbs turned into waterfalls last night.
