Some Lynbrook residents are fighting against a proposal that would add a four-story, 200-unit apartment building to the top of an existing parking lot by the train station.
Developers held an information session Monday at the Elks Lodge to disclose to the public details of the building.
"We wanted to take the time and have a night where everybody could come out and meet us, learn about the project, kick the tires, meet the designers, meet us, ask questions," says Anthony Bartone, of Terwilliger & Bartone Properties.
Bartone says with the project located close to the train station and downtown, the apartment building will not add too many cars to Lynbrook's streets.
The proposal also includes a multilevel parking garage that would hold 400 cars, which would alleviate parking concerns for residents.
The Lynbrook Chamber of Commerce said yes to the apartments.
"It would go a long way in helping the community and support and sustain a viable and vibrant downtown Lynbrook," says Jeff Greenfield, of the Lynbrook Chamber of Commerce.
Lynbrook officials will hold a public meeting on Nov. 19 at Village Hall to hear more comments and concerns from residents.
