Police have narrowed down the source of a dead baby boy found at a Stamford recycling plant.
Investigators say the baby was likely delivered by a carting company which services Westchester County, Danbury and Ridgefield as well as parts of lower Fairfield County.
Police say the body of the baby was found on Oct. 16 by workers at City Carting on Taylor Reed Place around 8:40 a.m.
Police did not identify the name of the business, but say the carting company also sorts material delivered from lower Fairfield County, including the city of Stamford and Norwalk and the town of Westport.
Stamford police say they have ruled out the possibility the child came from recycled material in Nassau County, New York, or Andover, Massachusetts.
Officials say they are working with law enforcement agencies across state lines to help move the investigation forward.
Police describe the baby as either a white or Hispanic male.
They say the State Medical Examiner is working to determine an exact cause of death.
