A Bridgeport shooting that killed a 12-year-old boy brought a sense of urgency to an annual gun violence vigil in Stamford.
The vigil was held at Bethel AME church Wednesday. Those who attended say it's important to keep talking about the 12-year-old who was killed and all the other victims. Earlier this year, two teens were killed on the west side of Stamford.
"I think it's very urgent because God is not happy about what is going on," says Sylvia Symmons of Stratford.
Electric candles were passed around to people in attendance. Some participants brought signs and others wore buttons, but most of all they came with thoughts and ideas about how to keep more young people from losing their lives.
Organizers say they see signs of progress with Connecticut's laws, but on a local level each life taken hurts.
