A flatbed truck owned by the city of Bridgeport hit a commercial building Saturday morning on Seaview Avenue in Bridgeport, officials say.
Investigators say the driver of the truck, a worker for the city of Bridgeport, had to be cut out of the vehicle and was rushed to the hospital.
The crash happened just after 8 a.m. when the truck hit the corner of Spec Plating Incorporated after it lost control. Officials say the industrial building the driver struck contains hazardous waste, but was not affected by the impact.
The building was left with a gaping hole in it's side.
One neighbor tells News 12 Connecticut that she lives in the apartment next door and heard a bang. She then rushed outside and saw the impact.
Dozens of first responders spent hours on the scene. The driver's condition was not immediately known.
