The death of actor Luke Perry has been a wake-up call to many, and a Stratford family is trying to use their experience to help others.

Perry, 52, died Monday after suffering a massive stroke last week. He portrayed Dylan McKay on the coming-of-age series "Beverly Hills, 90210" and had recently starred in the CW series "Riverdale."

Perry's death was especially rough for young stroke survivors, a group that researchers say is growing.

Jaclyn Kalapos-Rio says she started to have trouble speaking and seeing in 2013. She was just 32 years old when she suffered a stroke.

"There are no strokes in our family, I don't know anyone who has had a stroke so it was incomprehensible," says Kalapos-Rios.

Jaclyn's mother Felicia published her story, thanks in part to the lack of information for young stroke survivors available.

"When I was looking for some information to help us with Jaclyn, there were not that many books out there about a young healthy person having a stroke," says Felicia Zera Kalapos.

Warning signs of stroke include numbness or weakness in the face, arms or legs and trouble speaking or seeing.
