Hundreds of students at a Stamford school did their part to help needy children around the world.

Children at King School spent part of their day packing boxes of food for the nonprofit Feed My Starving Children.

Rice, soy, vegetables and even vitamins were packed into 100,000 boxes to help hungry kids across the globe.

Diana Degnan, a junior at King School, raised $22,000 to make the project possible.

"I had no idea how much work it was but I'm really glad I did it and I'm really glad we get to help all these kids," Degnan said.

She hopes that the work done at her school will translate into change that can inspire other people to get involved.

Feed My Starving Children says it sent out 364 million meals last year.

The meals will be sent to a hub in Pittsburgh and then go where they are needed.
