Authorities were looking Tuesday for a missing swimmer in Candlewood Lake in New Milford.
Crews returned to Dike Point Park around 7:40 a.m. to look for the missing 17-year-old male. They were first called to the area around 4 p.m. Monday for a report of a possible drowning.
Neighbors say that they saw the teen with friends Monday enjoying the water and speculated that he may have gotten a cramp while swimming.
Officials believe the water temperature was in the 60s at the time of the incident. They say the area where he may have drowned is about 20-30 feet deep.
State police boats were brought in with high-tech sonar to search along the shore of the islands. Local police and rescue teams have also been searching with K-9s.
Police have not yet released the teen’s name. Authorities say they do not suspect any foul play.
