Owners of only nursing home in Westport request its closure

WESTPORT -

The group that owns the only nursing home in Westport has filed an application to close.

An application has been sent to the state requesting the ability to close down the Westport Rehabilitation Complex on Burr Road.

State officials say the nursing home, which has 120 beds, is the only one in Westport. They say they will take in to consideration how many beds are available within a 15-mile radius.

Officials say the Department of Social Services will come up with a decision in the next 60 days.

State Sen. Will Haskel says the way residents were notified wasn't appropriate.

News 12 reached out to the attorney for the property owners but hasn't heard back.
