Money is coming in to Bridgeport to build a new Bassick High School but major questions about the new campus remain unanswered.
The state has approved $90 million to replace the school but a new location has not yet been chosen.
The high school has been in need of repairs for years. Students say they took video of a caught a rat running down the hallway five years ago.
State Rep. Steve Stafstrom says it is about time for a replacement.
"The roof was replaced a couple of years ago, but it continues to leak -- continues to be a very outdated facility," Stafstrom said.
The new Bassick High School will feature high-tech labs, similar to those at Fairchild Wheeler Magnet School and Housatonic Community College.
But where the new school will go is still a mystery. The original plan was to tear down the current school, but that would move students across town for at least a year.
Now, the city is negotiating for the old Hubbell Incorporated site on State Street. If that works out, students could stay where they are during construction.
The school board president says they hope to start construction on the new Bassick High School next summer at one of the two possible locations.
